REMI Webinar: Economic Effects of Criminal Justice Reform

March 20 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

REMI will present a webinar on the Economic Effects of Criminal Justice Reform on Wednesday, March 20th, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

The prison population in this country rose sharply over several decades due to federal and state legislators pushing policies meant to strengthen America’s stance on crime. The nation’s incarceration rate has now become a social and financial issue as elected officials on both sides of the aisle hope to reassess the approach to crime and punishment. The money saved from decreased prison spending and population can potentially have a revitalizing effect on a local economy. This webinar will provide an overview of the economic effects associated with criminal justice reform. This presentation describes how to evaluate the impacts of reform on employment, revenue, and output using dynamic economic modeling, as well as examining the latest Congressional initiatives and state-specific case studies.
