Making Connections to Drive Opportunity

MAX is working to connect the dots in metro Atlanta to ensure that we have a workforce system that is working well together and leveraging all the available resources.

MAX works to advance economic competitiveness in the Atlanta region by strengthening connections, collaborations, and practices among workforce developers and organizations engaged in workforce development.  MAX convenes workforce developers through the following programs.

MAX Academy

The MAX Academy offers professional development and capacity building training workshops to help workforce development professionals develop new skills, learn best practices, and engage in peer-to-peer learning.

The MAX Leadership Network is comprised of workforce leaders who convene regularly to strengthen our collective capacity as workforce developers to meet the needs that employers have for a ready workforce.

Helpful Organizations for Workforce Developers

There are many great organizations working to help inform and equip workforce developers, including:

International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP)

IAWP is a worldwide educational association providing its members with training and learning opportunities to help them better serve their customers. IAWP offers educational scholarships, a professional development program, and the Certified Workforce Specialist (CWS) certification program.


National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB)

NAWB represents approximately 550 Workforce Development Boards and their 12,000+ business members that coordinate and leverage workforce strategies with education and economic development stakeholders within their local communities, to ensure that state and local workforce development and job training programs meet the needs of employers.


National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP)

NAWDP’s mission is to advocate for the workforce industry and develops the professional capacity of workforce professionals seeking the highest standards of excellence in credentialing, applied learning opportunities, and cutting edge tools to excel in serving job seekers and business.


National Association for Workforce Improvement (NAWI)

NAWI works to help teachers, workforce developers, counselors, administrators, and business partners meet the challenges of incorporating these rapidly changing technologies into all aspects of the workforce development from curriculum to collaborations.


National Career Pathways Network (NCPN)

NCPN is a membership organization for educators, employers and others involved in the advancement of Career Pathways, career technical education, and related education reform initiatives. NCPN is housed at the Center for Occupational Research and Development (CORD).


National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE)

The National Council for Workforce Education is committed to promoting excellence and growth in workforce education. As an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), NCWE provides a national forum for administrators and faculty in workforce education and basic skills, as well as representatives of business, labor, military, and government, to affect and direct the future role of two-year and other post-secondary institutions in workforce education and economic development. NCWE provides the link between policy and workforce education and economic development by providing support, research, and critical information to members on current and future trends and policies.


National Skills Coalition

National Skills Coalition is a broad-based coalition working toward a vision of an America that grows its economy by investing in its people so that every worker and every industry has the skills to compete and prosper.


Southeastern Employment & Training Association (SETA)

SETA provides professional opportunities for all workforce development partners.
