DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR (PRINCIPAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST), WORKSOURCE ATLANTA REGIONAL
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information, and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.
The Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) Grant is a two-year United States Department of Labor grant designed to expand the capacity of American Job Centers (AJCs), also known as the One-Stop Career Centers, to improve employment outcomes of individuals with disabilities. The project will focus on customizing career pathways in high-demand industries, facilitating cross-system collaboration, and expansion of the capacity of the AJC system in Georgia to service customers with disabilities.
The Disability Employment Coordinator is responsible for implementing all aspects of the Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) grant in Gwinnett County and Henry County. The DEI Coordinator will focus on increasing the participation of persons with disabilities in career pathways systems, including programs in the public workforce system in partnership with community colleges and other education partners, human services agencies,businesses, vocational rehabilitation offices, and other partners. These career pathways systems are capitalizing on the flexibility that the career pathways model provides to use innovative service delivery strategies. This position will support job-driven approaches to equip individuals with disabilities with the skills, competencies, and credentials necessary to help them obtain in-demand jobs, increase earnings, and advance their careers. This is a temporary full-time position.
