- The Latin American Association (LAA) – in partnership with Atlanta CareerRise, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce – started a Work Force Development Training Pilot in Principles of Supply Chain Management. The objective of this course work is to respond to needs of the Supply Chain Industry by providing low wage, high performing employees with the opportunity to obtain additional training for potential increase in wages, promotion, and/or additional benefits. All work force training students selected for this training are bilingual and have previous work experience in the Supply Chain. This seven week (forty-hour) online training started on March 10th. Georgia Tech will award each graduate of the program with Professional Certification in Principles of Supply Chain Management on April 29th. Graduates will have studied a wide curriculum, including overall logistics planning, order processing, production scheduling, inventory and warehouse management, under supervision of Georgia Tech instructors. Before acceptance into this program, all participants were carefully screened in personal interviews. The LAA appreciates the partnership of the workforce community in spreading the word with companies about the availability of program graduates for positions in Supply Chain Management.
