The Georgia Budget & Policy Institute (GBPI) is hosting its signature annual policy conference, Insights 2022: Treating Workers as Essential, Not Invisible on Thursday, January 20th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Friday, January 21st, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, virtually.

This year’s event will explore how Georgia can better support our care workers, many of whom are women of color. The COVID-19 crisis has underscored how critical these roles are, yet the workers who fill these roles are often treated as invisible in the policy space. Policies that treat care workers as essential are critical to advancing racial and gender equity, yet no real changes have been enacted.

GBPI is particularly thrilled to announce its keynote panel, Building an Equitable Care System that Sustains and Heals. The panel features Josephine Kalipeni, Executive Director of Family Values at Work, Jocelyn Frye, President of the National Partnership for Women & Families, and Lauren Koontz, CEO and President of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. The panel will be moderated by GBPI Senior Economic Policy Analyst Ife Finch Floyd. The speakers have vast experience advocating for women and come from organizations that work to improve the lives of women and children. Their perspectives on trends in the caring ecosystem will be sure to inspire you to take action for Georgia’s care workers.

Programming will also include GBPI’s annual analysis of the governor’s budget that will be released in the weeks preceding Insights 2022.
