The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is hosting a webcast on The American Rescue Plan Act: What Employers Must Know on Tuesday, April 6th, at 2:00 PM.
On March 11th, the third significant federal stimulus bill aimed at mitigating the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic became law. Known as the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the $1.9 trillion legislative package contains several provisions of relevance to employers, particularly regarding tax credits. In addition to providing a new COBRA premium assistance subsidy for qualifying individuals, the new law extends the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) payroll tax credit through September 30, 2021, for businesses that voluntarily offer pandemic-related paid sick leave to employees and extends availability of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act employee retention tax credit through December 31, 2021.
