Vulnerability — how well a community handles the repercussions of a COVID-19 outbreak — matters.
In the United States today, people living in vulnerable communities are significantly more likely to have died from COVID-19 as low vulnerability communities are burdened because people do not have equitable access to health care, affordable housing, transportation, childcare, or safe and secure employment.
COVID-19 COMMUNITY VULNERABILITY INDEX
Surgo Ventures created the COVID-19 Community Vulnerability Index to leverage the power of data to understand how and why communities are vulnerable, so we can develop solutions to help them. Below we map the vulnerability of US counties.

WHY IT MATTERS
About The US CCVI
The COVID-19 Community Vulnerability Index (CCVI) allows us to leverage the power of data to understand how and why communities are vulnerable, so we can develop solutions to help them. The CCVI identifies these communities by aggregating dozens of indicators, across six themes, to understand both the overall vulnerability of a community as well as its unique factors.
