Professional Development

MAX Partners with IAWP and NAWDP to Further Professional Development Through the MAX Academy

March 22, 2021

The Metro Atlanta eXchange for Workforce Solutions (MAX) is pleased to announce our partnerships with both the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP) and the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) on advancing the professional development of workforce developers in Georgia.

Both IAWP and NAWDP now recognize training programs held through the MAX Academy as relevant training hours for their certification programs. Hours spent attending MAX Academy workshops can count as training hours for earning a Certified Workforce Professional (CWP) credential from IAWP and also as professional development (continuing education) hours for CWP recertification. For NAWDP’s Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential, NAWDP will accept MAX Academy training hours toward the professional development hours required for CWDP recertification.

The CWP and CWDP certifications are national credentials that acknowledge the skills, knowledge, and experience that workforce developers have for successful service in the profession. These credentials confirm that a workforce developer has met the professional standards expected in the profession by expert peers. The certifications are akin to the CPA for accountants in terms of denoting professional competency.

The MAX will hold four (4) MAX Academy workshops in 2021. Virtual workshops will run 90 minutes (1.5 training hours). As conditions permit, MAX will plan to return to 4-to-6 hour in-person MAX Academy workshops.

The next MAX Academy workshop, MAX Academy: IT Alphabet Soup, will be held on Tuesday, March 30th, at 1:00 PM.

The registration for the next MAX Academy virtual workshop on March 30th is free for MAX members but registration is required.
