For many in the community, the 2-1-1 Contact Center serves as the “face,” the first contact in getting the help you need. 2-1-1 connects people to community resources that address everyday challenges of living and those that develop during times of community emergencies. United Way 2-1-1 is a free, confidential information and referral helpline available 24 hours a day, every day.
On Friday, July 10th, Donna Burnham and Marioly Botero with the United Way of Greater Atlanta joined MAX to review 2-1-1 and how this tool is being utilized to ensure individuals are getting the help they need. The discussion helped workforce developers learn how to best use 2-1-1 for connecting job seekers and others to vital life supports in this time of COVID-19.
In addition to reviewing the many features of the Atlanta region’s 2-1-1 Contact Center, the first in the nation, Burnham and Botero discussed a new partnership between United Way Worldwide, Lyft, and the local United Way 2-1-1s: Ride United. Ride United provides free transportation services for individuals seeking food access, health care, employment, and financial assistance. Individuals can call 2-1-1 to request a ride between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
