High Schools. Technical Colleges. When it comes to training in high demand fields, these valuable assets are available throughout our region and state and play a key role in ensuring that training for job seekers is aligned with what employers need.
On Tuesday, November 30th, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, our next MAX Academy will help us gain a better understanding of the training programs that are held in partnership with these local anchor institutions for workforce development. We will learn how to better help job seekers prepare for and tap into available training for high demand careers. And we will explore how to best partner with local high schools and technical colleges in either leveraging existing training programs or creating new, customized programs.
The Academy will feature two discussion panels as follows:
Discussion Panel 1: Integrated Education and Training moderated by Dr. Cayanna Good, Assistant Commissioner for Adult Education, Technical College System of Georgia
- Bobby Creech, Director of Instructional Services, Technical College System of Georgia
- Stephanie Rooks, Vice President of Adult Education, Gwinnett Technical College
- Lisa Shaw, Vice President of Adult Education, Georgia Northwestern Technical College
Discussion Panel 2: Work-based Learning moderated by Laura Bowell, Work-based Learning Specialist, Georgia Department of Education
- Lori Heermann, State Coordinator, Great Promise Partnership
- Patrick Ledford, Economic Development Liaison, Georgia Department of Education
- Trudy Smith, Development and Training Program Manager, Georgia Department of Education
