From Monster:
Multiple reports reveal that the coronavirus pandemic has disproportionately impacted women. The hardest hit industries happen to be predominately ones in which women work. During the pandemic, it’s typically been women who put their careers aside to assume childcare duties at home. A startling number of women dropped out of the workforce and even though women have been returning to the workforce, there is still a significant shortfall.
In the report, Women in the Workforce: Building Gender Equity in a Post-Pandemic World, several insights are provided about the current state of women in the workforce and what women need from their workplaces.

From the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation:
Access to high-quality child care is having a significant impact on the productivity of employers through their employees and the ability of these employers to meet their workforce needs. In the Employer Roadmap: Childcare Solutions for Working Parents, a number of factors are identified, such as:
- Parents must balance their childcare options while making employment decisions. Those working non-traditional hours have more limited options.
- Finding and retaining skilled talent was a top concern prior to the pandemic and this concern has only increased in these times.
- Childcare responsibilities fall disproportionately on female caregivers, especially women of color.
- Employers committed to diversity of their workforce should understand how childcare challenges impact their ability to recruit, retain, and grow skilled female employees.
Fortunately, employers now have a roadmap to work with their employees in addressing childcare challenges.
