From the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia:
Workforce development plays many important roles in a local community. Effective strategies support prosperity for families, success for employers, and community growth. Workforce development connects individuals to opportunities for training or jobs in a local economy. A workforce development strategy is a coordinated set of actions and investments that seek to meet the most important workforce development needs of a community. The planning process can help a community shape its future, leverage resources, and create opportunities.
The Georgia Workforce Planning Guide was developed through a partnership between the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and Georgia Power’s Education & Workforce Development team. The guide lays out a step-by-step process and worksheets that communities can utilize for local or regional workforce planning efforts.
This guide helps prepare community leaders with the steps, knowledge, and templates to develop and implement their own local workforce strategies, applicable to communities of all sizes and with varying needs.
