From the Rework America Alliance:
The Rework America Alliance is excited to share the newly expanded Skillful Talent Series which includes three new courses that go beyond sourcing and hiring to provide guidance and tools related to selection, onboarding and development of employees. The series is designed to help employers break away from traditional, outdated hiring methods, which overly rely on proxies for skills like degrees, previous job titles, years of experience, and subjective evaluation. The short, 30-minute online courses are arranged in five modules, one for each stage of the talent management process and are SHRM-certified for professional development credit. The modules cover the key pillars of skills-based hiring: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training and advancement.
The Alliance has also produced Skills-Based Hiring Toolkits for ten in-demand roles that typically do not require degree and offer opportunities for career advancement, plus a generic manager template that can be tailored for other roles. Each guide includes job posting templates, interview and assessment guides, as well as guidance on creating an effective onboarding program.
And to help people find and apply for open positions, the Alliance offers Foundational Career Coach Skills Training. This training helps career coaches be better equipped to assist job seekers in identifying relevant jobs while articulating their skills to employers. This helps those job seekers highlight their abilities in a way that doesn’t rely solely on past jobs and academic accomplishments, instead showcasing their transferable skills and capabilities.
These and many other resources developed through the Rework America Alliance are available through the Markle Foundation’s website. Click here to learn more.
