MAX Talks with Atlanta Gas Light Reviews Workforce Needs with the Largest Natural Gas Utility in the Southeast

On Tuesday, December 12th, leaders from Atlanta Gas Light joined MAX to discuss workforce needs in the natural gas industry and how workforce partners can best collaborate in meeting these needs.

Atlanta Gas Light is committed to a clean energy future and helping make our communities better through initiatives that include workforce development, sustainability, superior customer service and innovation. Atlanta Gas Light would like to build careers and execute a workforce development plan that establishes it as the employer of choice by enhancing its brand and leveraging strategic partnerships. The company is building a workforce that embodies that attitude and would like you to be a part of the movement.

Company leaders joining MAX included:

  • Marilyn Walker, Workforce Development Manager, Southern Company Gas
  • Robin Rosen, Operations Manager, Atlanta Service Center

The discussion was hosted by the MAX board lead for MAX Talks, Joe Paolini, Vice President, Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI).

Atlanta Gas Light is actively seeking General Technicians for above ground and below ground opportunities. Following are brief descriptions of these roles.

Service – (Above Ground)

  • Deliver world class Customer Service
  • Service Commercial and Residential
  • Respond to Gas Emergencies
  • Activate and Deactivate Service
  • Light Customer Appliances
  • Operate Basic equipment and tools
  • Observe all safety and regulatory guidelines

Distribution – (Below Ground)

  • Respond to gas outages
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Operate heavy equipment and hand tools
  • Traffic control
  • Routine pipe maintenance
  • Landscaping and general maintenance
  • Install, maintain and repair underground gas lines
  • Keep the public safe
  • Observe all safety and regulatory guidelines
