On Friday, October 4th, MAX led a delegation of workforce leaders serving our state and region to visit leaders serving with an international leader in the power transmission industry – the Megadyne Group – at its Buford, Georgia facilities.
Special thanks to Plant Manager Ron Harris and Head of Human Resources Ruthann Savage for hosting us. And special thanks also to Gwinnett Technical College’s Melvin Everson and Nikki Lawson for arranging for this opportunity.
Organizations represented by the delegation include: Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI), Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Georgia Center for Opportunity, Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Power, Gwinnett Technical College, HRthePartner, Metro Atlanta eXchange for Workforce Solutions (MAX), Latin American Association, Team Mindshift, and Technical College System of Georgia.
The Megadyne Group develops and manufactures power transmission belts, matched components and complete belt systems for a diverse range of applications. As a reliable partner for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket distributors, with manufacturing plants in Europe, North America and Asia, the company’s belts are utilized in a variety of industries ranging from automotive, appliance, and food to material handling, packaging, and construction. Many of the belts are produced in Megadyne’s Buford, Georgia facilities and shipped throughout the world.
During the visit, the group discussed how Megadyne sources talent to meet its evolving workforce needs, opportunities for work-based learning, and more. The meeting, powered by Gwinnett Tech, was part of our MAX Talks series.
