On Friday, February 28th, Chris Green, Senior Vice President with Georgia Student Finance Commission, joined MAX to provide an update on GEORGIA MATCH, an innovative education and workforce initiative developed in collaboration with the Governor’s Office, Governor’s Office of Planning & Budget, Georgia Student Finance Commission, Technical College System of Georgia, Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, Georgia Department of Education, and University System of Georgia.
This tool provides high school seniors with a simple way to know where they are eligible for admission based on their high school calculated HOPE grade point average. According to Green:
- GEORGIA MATCH is one of the largest direct admission programs in the nation.
- The GEORGIA MATCH letter identifies up to 45 public colleges and universities that are an academic match for the student.
- The institutions listed are holding a spot for the student, and ready for the student to claim their spot.
- GEORGIA MATCH letters are sent to all public and private high school seniors (130,000+).
Green shared how more than 1-in-10 (12.4 percent) of Georgia’s high school graduates in 2022 may not have moved onto college or the workplace. The GEORGIA MATCH initiative aims to help all high school graduates reach their productive potential.
