The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is hosting a webinar, What’s in it for Rural? Accessing Rural Resources in the IIJA, CHIPS, and IRA on Wednesday, January 31st, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
By passing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the 117th Congress approved over a trillion dollars in immediate appropriations and nearly $600 billion more in authorizations to invest in infrastructure, clean energy, climate resilience, and industrial policy. These resources present an enormous opportunity for rural places to advance equitable community and economic development, yet navigating the scale of what’s available and the complexity of the programs poses many challenges. This session will draw upon a new analysis by the Reimagining Rural Initiative at the Brookings Institution and the experiences of successful practitioners to provide insights into the opportunities that are most significant to rural communities in this historic legislation and what can help unlock investment to meet their needs.
