The National Conference for State Legislatures (NCSL) is hosting a Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force Meeting: 2024 Legislative Summit Preconference on Sunday, August 4th, starting at 8:30 AM, at the Louisville Marriot Downtown.
The Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force will meet in-person to hear from speakers on a variety of policy-oriented topics. We will learn about the Kentucky Military and Veterans Affairs programs by Maj. Gen. Haldane (Hal) B. Lamberton, the adjutant general of Kentucky. Retired Brig. Gen. David L. Stringer, director of NASA’s Neil A. Armstrong Test Facility will discuss veteran’s benefits, military transition/workforce development, and community/state engagement with federal installations. We will also welcome Jim Seward, the executive director of the Veterans Justice Commission, who will discuss Veterans Justice Initiatives. We will hear from Hire Heroes USA on Veterans Employment Initiatives and will also receive an update from several colleagues with the Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration Program from the Department of Defense. Participants will receive policy updates and be invited to share information about state-level policy.
