The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is hosting a webinar on From Work to Home: The Employer’s Role in Addressing Teen Mental Health on Wednesday, August 28th, starting at 4:00 PM.
As the teen mental health crisis worsens, caregivers are desperately searching for the right support for their teens. Research shows that 1 in 5 teens suffers from a mental health disorder, which both impacts and is impacted by factors such as problematic internet use (PIU), declining relationships with peers, and more. Yet, many parents have reported challenges in accessing mental health care for teens due to a shortage of providers, prohibitive costs, and other barriers. And when working parents struggle due to their teen’s mental health, employers are negatively impacted as well. In a survey from IBI, there was a two-fold increase in absenteeism among caregivers with a child with mental health needs. The good news is that employers can support caregivers by offering a comprehensive system of care, helping improve the overall well-being of employees and their families. Join leaders from Headspace and Aon as they discuss the declining state of teen mental health and its root cases, why mental healthcare support from employers is essential, and recommendations on how employers can “care for the caregivers” and their families.
