Boat People SOS-Atlanta
MISSION
BPSOS-Atlanta is a locally incorporated 501(c)(3) affiliate of our parent organization, Boat People SOS, Inc. (BPSOS), a national Vietnamese American community-based organization. Our mission is to “empower, organize, and equip Vietnamese individuals and communities in their pursuit of liberty and dignity.” BPSOS was founded in 1980 by Vietnamese immigrants and refugees, in an effort to address the plight of the Vietnamese “boat people.” We conducted rescue-at-sea missions which saved several thousands of Vietnamese individuals fleeing the Communist regime. We have since evolved, providing direct services and community empowerment work across the country, especially in areas where there are high concentrations of Vietnamese.
