Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) began as a program at All About Developmental Disabilities (AADD) in the 1960’s. After decades apart, the two organizations merged in 2018 to reconnect their shared mission and better serve those with disabilities. BDI now offers a wide range of support for individuals with differing abilities during all stages of life. It is a beacon of hope and possibilities for families in need. BDI’s programs empower individuals with disabilities to find their voice, independence and self-sufficiency. Programs and Services included traditional and intensive family support, behavioral health, benefits navigation, job & career services, and the Georgia Community Trust (a pooled, special needs trust). Its operations are primarily funded through its contracted work with both the public and private sectors. These “social enterprises”, or contracted services, fund its programs and place people with differing abilities in inclusive-minded workspaces. Areas of social enterprise include Call Centers & Switchboard Operations, Facilities Management, Supply Chain & Logistics, and Administrative Services. This focus on solutions and collaboration provides more employment opportunities for those with disabilities, while supporting a sustainable model of organizational growth and mission-related services.
