MAX Academy Connects Workforce Developers with WIOA Leaders at the Georgia Department of Economic Development

December 14, 2017

On Tuesday, December 5th, MAX co-presented a workshop with the Georgia Department of Economic Development – Workforce Division (GDEcD) on nuts and bolts of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). This program, hosted by the Metro Atlanta Chamber, provided participants an opportunity to learn about the mission and tenets of WIOA, and how to partner in the implementation of WIOA in the Atlanta region in service to both the employer and job seeker.  Program participants heard from Deputy Commissioner Ben Hames and program leaders Brett Lacy, Justin Haight, and Jamie Jordan.

More than 50 workforce developers in the Atlanta region attended the workshop.  Said one participant: “Even though I have worked with WIOA for years, I learned something new.”  This sentiment was echoed by a number of other participants.

Stay tuned for future events to come together through MAX and others!
