In this workshop, participants will learn about the impact of trauma on workforce development professionals, both personally and professionally. Participants will explore ways to manage reactions to trauma exposure and engage in a self-assessment of their self-care practices. Specific strategies for managing the effects of trauma exposure will be shared and practiced, and participants will develop an individual self-care/wellness plan they can implement after the workshop.
This training will be conducted by the Professional Excellence Program Child Welfare Training Collaborative at Georgia State University. CWTC provides training and professional development opportunities for various human services professionals and organizations. Topics addressed in CWTC’s trauma training series include the impact of trauma on behavior, resilience, trauma-informed care strategies, trauma-informed systems, secondary traumatic stress, and self-care for professionals.

CREDENTIALED TRAINING
Both IAWP and NAWDP recognize training programs held through the MAX Academy as relevant training hours for their certification programs. Hours spent attending MAX Academy workshops can count as training hours for earning a Certified Workforce Professional (CWP) credential from IAWP and also as professional development (continuing education) hours for CWP recertification. For NAWDP’s Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), NAWDP will accept MAX Academy training hours toward the professional development hours required for CWDP recertification.
This training with Georgia State University provides 1.5 clock hours of continuing education for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). These CEUs can also be used to fulfill core hours or general continuing education requirements for license renewal for social workers and non-core related hours for marriage and family therapists and professional counselors.
