MAX ALERT: Rework America Alliance Is Helping Employers Adopt Skills-based Hiring Practices

May 7, 2022

From Rework America Alliance:

Adopting an inclusive, skills-based approach to hiring and talent management can give employers a competitive advantage by expanding their talent pools, building more diverse teams and strengthening their workforce. This approach can also help to build a more equitable labor market which recognizes the skills someone can bring to a role regardless of educational attainment and other proxies.

In order to help employers take action, we have developed the training programs which provide practical guidance, tools, and support for implementing an inclusive, skills-based strategy. The programs are relevant for individuals that wish to lead change within their own organization and for those that want to help other employers to change their approach to hiring and talent management.

Skillful Talent Series

Developed in partnership with local partners, employers and employer associations, this SHRM-certified training allows HR professionals and hiring managers to learn remotely through a new set of self-guided modules developed to deliver these trainings digitally.

The Skillful Talent Series is designed to help employers break away from traditional, outdated hiring methods, which overly rely on proxies for skills like degrees, previous job titles, years of experience, and subjective evaluation. The course focuses on the key pillars of skills-based hiring: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training and advancement. Skills-based hiring practices effectively reduce hiring bias and improve employee retention, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
