The MAX Board of Directors has created the Wendell Dallas Excellence in Leadership Award to commemorate the pioneering leadership of MAX founding chair Wendell Dallas. It was under Dallas’ leadership that leaders in the Atlanta region began coming together in 2013 to get a better understanding of who was doing what, where, and for whom in workforce. Then a rather siloed workforce system, the partners soon began seeing the fruits of working together to better serve and connect the job seeker and employer collectively.
During a board dinner held with Dallas on June 29th, MAX Board Chair John Helton surprised MAX’s founding chair with the news of this award. “When we look back at where our workforce system was before MAX and where it is today, we can all share a sense of profound gratitude for Wendell Dallas and his leadership in bringing us all together and helping us see how together we better serve those we serve,” says Helton. “Going forward, we will recognize leaders who are known for leading with integrity, devotion, and selflessness in service to others in a manner similar to the award’s namesake.”
The Wendell Dallas Excellence in Leadership Award will recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond in providing leadership in workforce development through the Metro Atlanta eXchange for Workforce Solutions (MAX) and/or MAX partners. Award recipients will be announced during the MAX Annual Meeting.
Says Dallas about serving in metro Atlanta and Georgia, “not only are we committed to the workforce system, and we’re working together and supporting each other, we know each other, we trust each other, and we like each other.” Click here for more insights from Dallas on the MAX origin story.
