On Wednesday, August 27th, nearly 40 workforce partners gathered at Amazon ATL2, one of the multinational conglomerate’s 22 fulfillment and sortation centers in Georgia. Special thanks to Terreta Rodgers, Head of Community Affairs for the Atlanta Region for Amazon, and also to Tony Vozzolo, Site Lead for Amazon ATL2 and his colleagues Daniel Utreras, Jenny Dean, and Jonathan Weissinger – for all they did to make our site visit possible.
Amazon ATL2 is the company’s Stone Mountain Fulfilment Center, a robotics sortable facility which spans 640,000 square feet and includes four floors. Workforce partners were provided the opportunity to experience up close how the fulfillment process works expediently through Amazon’s people and technology. Some key takeaways from our visit include:
- ATL2 benefits from a diverse workforce employing men, women, minorities, and people of differing abilities.
- ATL2 employs hundreds of workers through multiple and flexible shift options to both receive and move inventory in a quality manner.
- ATL2 prioritizes employee wellbeing, from water stations conveniently placed near work stations, comfortable break rooms and readily available personal protection equipment to a variety of work options.
- At ATL2 and elsewhere, Amazon is focusing on the continual development of its employees and providing opportunities for advancement within the company.
