National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE): From Learning to Earning: Building Accessible Pathways from Campus to Career

October 22 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) is hosting From Learning to Earning: Building Accessible Pathways from Campus to Career on Thursday, October 22nd, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Internships can be a powerful bridge between education and employment, providing students with opportunities to apply what they have learned, develop career competencies, build professional relationships, and gain the confidence and experience needed to navigate the workplace. Yet, the 2020 Census reported that people with disabilities are less likely to enter and complete college, and many post-secondary career development programs do not recognize the inequities that students with disabilities face during the transition from education to employment. Therefore, thoughtfully designed internships are imperative for garnering increased participation among students with disabilities, and collaboration across traditional institutional boundaries can serve to optimize the design process. This session will highlight a partnership between CU Boulder and the State of Colorado’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) that helped create and support a successful multi-month internship for Keith, a neurodivergent recent graduate of the university.
