National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE): Pathways to a Future Career in Nursing: Addressing Nursing Shortages with Precollege Support
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) is hosting a webinar on Pathways to a Future Career in Nursing: Addressing Nursing Shortages with Precollege Support on Tuesday, December 16th, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
In response to the growing national shortage in the nursing workforce and the academic challenges many incoming students face, the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh developed the Pre-Nursing Pathway Program (PNPP)—a proactive, weeklong residential initiative designed to support and retain aspiring nurses before they even begin their first semester. This webinar offers an in-depth look at the PNPP’s structure, goals, and measurable impact. Participants will explore how the program was designed to address gaps in academic readiness, particularly in science and math—while also fostering a sense of belonging and confidence among first-year pre-nursing students. Through immersive lab experiences, mentorship from current nursing students, and holistic support from faculty and staff, the PNPP helps students build a strong foundation for success in a demanding academic path.
