In-Person Programs

  • Altierus Career College is no longer accepting applications or enrolling new students. Classes will continue for current students, and the campus will continue to provide support resources and career services through graduation and for a period of time thereafter. Former students may request transcripts above and reach out to their campus for ongoing career assistance.  The ECMC Group Board of Directors, representing the parent organization of Altierus Career College, has made the decision to teach out the three remaining Altierus Career College (ACC) campuses. A teach out means that we will provide the education and support services for our current students and gradually wind down the school’s operations. New students will no longer be accepted. We will continue to provide career services for a period beyond the teach-out to ensure that the program is as successful as possible for students. Altierus Career College will engage in an orderly closure, with campuses remaining open until all current students that are following their academic plans graduate or an acceptable completion plan is identified for remaining degree students.  Click here to see this notice on the college’s website.
  • Atlanta Public Schools Adult Education Center, in partnership with the Technical College System of Georgia,is now enrolling for its free College & Career Readiness Program GED and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. The GED program helps adult learners gain the college and career readiness skills needed to enter and succeed in the workforce and/or postsecondary education.  New students admitted every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. In-person and virtual classes are available.   • Atlanta Technical College is offering two (2) High School Equivalency options – the GED and HiSET, with the testing center on campus offering both exams.  These options are available through “hybrid classes” where students can attend in-person, virtually via Blackboard, and/or through a combination of both.  Atlanta Tech Click here for more information and to register.
  • CEFGA’s nationally recognized Construction Ready Training Program is an N.C.C.E.R. accredited four-week boot-camp style training program, where participants can earn up to eight industry-recognized credentials.  The Construction Ready Training Program screens and trains students for entry-level positions in the construction industry and is FREE to eligible applicants who reside in metropolitan Atlanta, as well as, the Augusta, Macon, and Columbus Regions in Georgia.  Graduates of Construction Ready are connected to Georgia construction companies who participate in the Construction Ready Training Program.  Employment is not guaranteed; however, 97% of our graduates have been placed into full-time employment.   • Chattahoochee Technical College is offering Cyber Security for Small Business. As a small business, you might feel helpless against cyberattacks. Fortunately, you can take steps to protect your company. Start by learning about common cyber threats, understanding where your business is vulnerable, and taking steps to improve your overall cybersecurity posture. Knowing some cybersecurity basics and putting them into practice will significantly help you protect your business while reducing the risk of cyber-attack. This workshop will offer a range of pragmatic solutions to minimize risk.     • Mechatronics (16 weeks): Mechatronics will provide 6,000 hours of on-the-job learning as a mechatronics apprentice with an Atlanta employer. This training will prepare you for a career in a highly specialized field.
    • Automotive Technician Training (16 weeks): This course introduces basic concepts and technical training in automobile mechanics.
    • Banking Course (8 weeks): The training provides the skills needed for any entry-level position in banking with career potential—including teller, customer service representative, relationship banker, and personal banker.
    • Culinary Arts (15 weeks): The Culinary Arts class provides insight into food production skills, various levels of industry management, and hospitality skills for students interested in pursuing a career in the foodservice industry.
    • Salesforce Administrator (10 weeks): Students will learn the basics of Salesforce for application, product development, system administration, data management, and system architecture.
    • Coding Bootcamp (16 weeks – full-time / 26 weeks – flexible): Coding boot camp provides the basics necessary for employment within the Information Technology field. Graduates will be recognized as a “full stack web developer” upon course completion.
    • Cyber Security (9 months): Cybersecurity students will have a choice to train and test for the following industry-recognized certifications: CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA Net+, CompTIA Security+, and SOC Analyst.
    • Security Training (2 weeks): This training course covers crowd control, de-escalation, and hand-cuffing.
  • The City of Refuge (COR), through its newly formed Tech Transformation Academy and over a four-year period, will train 280 unemployed or underemployed individuals at its Workforce Innovation Hub.  Training will be provided for careers in the Web/Software Developer and Cyber Security Industries.  Each Web/Software Cohort will take 4 to 6.5 months and have access to a full array of social services. Each Cyber Security Training cohort will take 9 to 18 months to complete.  Upon graduation, students will receive credentials that will qualify them to find employment with companies hiring web developers or cyber security specialists. Students who graduate and do not find immediate employment will be placed in a 12-month paying internship with one of the corporate partners.     • Web Developer Training: Programs provide graduates with industry recognized full-stack software development certificate issued by DigitalCrafts. DigitalCrafts will consult with the corporate partners prior to each cohort to ensure the trainings are covering the skills and computer languages that the corporate partners will be hiring in the next six to 12 months. Currently, the Web Development/Software Engineer training course includes: HTML; CSS; JavaScript Scripting Language Introduce variables & logic, HTTP; Manipulate DOM; JSON; React.js; RESTful APIs; Command Line;PostgreSQL; Python; Deployment; Express.js:; and Node.js.
    • Cyber Security Training: Provided by Carolina Cyber will offer a flexible learning environment with virtual programs providing live and asynchronous learning, a rich set of virtual labs to evolve students’ hands-on skills, custom-developed mobile apps for memory aides, exam preparation, and a modern “high definition” virtual teaching lab with engaging tools such as Slack channels, polling, screen sharing, recording steps.  Credentials may include: ITF+, A+1, A+2, Network+, Security+, Linux+, Server+, Cloud+, Pentest+.
  • Connecting Communities and Families, Inc (CCF) in partnership with Wholistic Stress Control Institute, Inc. (WSCI), received a major grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration to deliver the Employment Qualifications Uplifting Independent Progress (EQUIP) Program.  The program is designed to target men and women, who are coming out of prison within 6 months or less or have already been released (not more than 24 months) from a criminal correctional facility and provide support services, as well as, job readiness skills that will assist them in pursuing careers.  A major goal of this program is to assist participants with attaining credentials and certifications in technical and trade classes (i.e. CDL, welding, GED Prep, construction, technology, etc.) to help prepare them for permanent jobs.   • The Georgia Institute of Technology is accepting applications for its 2022 Georgia Tech Excel Program.  The Excel Program is a 4-year certificate program for students, between the ages of 18 and 26, with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program is designed to prepare students  for careers in the Environmental Service Industry (EVS) in healthcare and in the commercial cleaning industries. It is an 8-week training program that includes techniques used by EVS technicians and high-demand training in floor care.     • South DeKalb Career Center is recruiting candidates for its Building Maintenance Training Program.  Students will be engaged in a 7-week training program that provides hands-on skills training in partnership with Atlanta Apartment Association and employers in the residential housing industry.   • The UpSkill learning program includes 4 weeks of workforce training followed by 4 weeks of workforce experience, where participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their new skills working in entry level technology administrative roles for local businesses and nonprofits.   • WorkSource Georgia is offering a Short-term Training Program to begin a new career in Healthcare, CDL, Logistics, Tech and Other Fields for individuals unemployed due to COVID-19.  In the Atlanta region, these serves are available through WorkSource Atlanta Regional, WorkSource Atlanta, WorkSource Cobb, WorkSource DeKalb, and WorkSource Fulton. With demand for skilled logistics workers at an all-time high as more and more consumers shop for goods online, the Prologis Warehousing and Distribution Program is designed to help job candidates learn more about the industry and prepare them for success in logistics roles.     • Topics covered include: safety and quality control principles in a warehouse environment; material flow, order processing, inventory control, and product management fundamentals, and environmental sustainability in the warehousing and logistics industry, among many others
    • Trainings are fully online and can be taken on any computer, tablet, or smartphone; learners who wish to use their mobile devices are encouraged to download the Go.Learn app from the Apple App Store or Google Play for the best experience.
    • Courses are 30-45 minutes each and are designed to be taken at each learner’s own pace; learners will be able to pause courses in progress and resume where they left off.  The full Prologis Warehousing and Distribution Program will take about 20 hours to complete.
    • Courses include interactive written/visual content as well as audio narration and are written at a 7th-8th grade reading level to maximize accessibility.
    • Learners will receive a downloadable certificate upon completing each course and passing a short online assessment.
    • Supplemental trainings are also available in professional skills such as communication, decision-making, collaboration, and self-awareness, and career management skills such as interviewing and resume-writing.

  • Diversity Cyber Council is offering the CompTIA IT Fundamentals 30 Day Challenge, a free 4-week self-study and instructor-led program in which candidates are provided content and materials to assist in learning the basics of information technology to successfully pass the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ certification. The program will run from Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for 10 weeks. This training program prepares participants for entry-level work in the tech industry.   • Literacy Action is committed to helping adult learners overcome barriers to achieving academic and career success in these critical times by offering a broad range of Virtual Classes in adult basic education, GED preparation, English as a Second Language, digital literacy, and workforce literacy.  Supplemental services such as individual career and academic counseling, work-readiness workshops, and financial literacy enrichment courses are also offered on an ongoing basis.  Click here to join Literacy Action’s next virtual orientation and learn more.
  • Momentum@Morehouse, a virtual coding school held through Morehouse College in partnership with OHUB, prepares career starters and career changers who want to thrive as professional software developers.  The 12-week coding bootcamp, one of a few such programs at a historically black college or university (HBCU), supports Morehouse’s focus on creating pathways to lucrative careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for under-represented minority groups.
