On Wednesday, February 12th, more than 80 workforce developers from across the Atlanta region came together for the MAX Academy: Exploring Resources with State Partners workshop.
Several state partners led highly insightful and informative sessions at the Academy, including:
- Kristin Laarhoven, Technical College System of Georgia, Office of Workforce Development. who spoke on WIOA (click here for the presentation)
- Elizabeth Warner, Georgia Department of Labor, who spoke on Rapid Response and other Workforce Solutions (click here for the presentation)

The partners discussed how their resources help put people to work and provide necessary supports to families, and how they align with other state partners to do so.
The workshop concluded with a Q&A panel with the state partners moderated by Dana Inman with the Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency.
Academy attendees contributed to a dynamic exchange of thoughts, ideas, and information. In addition to learning from some of our great state partners about the state and federal resources they steward for the citizens of Georgia, it was a fun day of making connections. “Networking was very prosperous,” said an attendee.
Special thanks to Jenny Taylor and Goodwill of North Georgia for hosting the MAX Academy, to the state partners for sharing their insights and expertise, to Sister Nina’s Kitchen for catering, and to the workshop participants – all of whom contributed to a day of great learning and connecting.
