“One of the greatest benefits of MAX is the networking and getting to know who’s who in the state and region, especially the decision-makers,” says Jenny Taylor, 2024-2025 Chair, MAX Board of Directors, noting how because of MAX, we advance our collective mission and operate at the ‘speed of trust’. Says Taylor: “I am confident that Leadership MAX will be an accelerant, both for the emerging and experienced leaders in the cohort AND for the workforce development ecosystem. I am so proud of the participants in the inaugural class for stepping forward, and of each member of the board and leadership who is volunteering their precious time to pour into their development.”

I am so excited to learn from other workforce leaders and exchange ideas and best practices. I know this will be a great opportunity to expand my network and develop relationships that I will continue to leverage even after the program. I am hopeful that connections made during Leadership MAX will lead to collaboration and partnership opportunities across the region. Iam also interested in learning how to leverage workforce policy onthe local level and creative ways to fund workforce development initiatives.

I am looking forward to getting a better understanding of the"workforce ecosystem". I am interested to know who all the players and decision makers are, and how do they work with one another. Where are the gaps or shortcomings within those, andwhat works well that I can utilize. As an "emerging leader" in the workforce space, I am excited to learn from those moreexperienced than me, learn about initiatives that have worked wellfrom others to implement in Douglas.

Leadership MAX has strengthened my vision, deepened my strategic insight, and expanded my ability to serve Georgia with purpose, clarity, and excellence. Throughout this year, my classmates and I participated in: retreat-style leadership intensives, field trips and immersive learning across metro Atlanta, service-learning experiences tied to real workforce needs, and collaborative strategy sessions with leaders shaping the future of work. Every moment reinforced why this work matters — and why Georgia is uniquely positioned to lead the nation in workforce innovation.

My stated goal was to broaden my perspective by developing and strengthening relationships and trust with people who are different from me and ideally who disagree with me. The program offered me a safe place to do this each month, and the shadow days offered proof that this was working well. I am eager to work with my new friends to create value that is evident to others and that is a sincere expression of my appreciation of MAX.

When I applied for the inaugural L-MAX Cohort, I had no idea how transformative it would be. Yet, it was the most professionally humorous, enlightening, and educational experience I’ve had! There’s nothing like being surrounded by a group of people with different perspectives, yet similar passions for workforce development. L-MAX has challenged me to grow, expand my network, and deepened my impact. Invest in Yourself!

At the intersection of Strategy Drive, Innovation Circle, Vision Court, and Synergy Way lies Leadership Lane where all these elements come together and the big picture is executed. Executing these elements effectively and efficiently while garnering team support without question or hesitation identifies your role or potential role as a leader. Leadership MAX not only strengthens your leadership philosophy but invigorates your vision and potential for continued success. Exploring key components of Leadership with my cohort, the “Inaugural” cohort provided valuable and detailed insight into Georgia’s Workforce Ecosystem. Lasting friendships have been garnered through our time spent together at all levels of the public and private sectors. This was truly an experience worth investing in.

Vice President, Economic Development, Georgia Piedmont Technical College
Joshua Williams
I was surrounded by such an impressive and thoughtful group this past year. I attach to kindness and generosity, so the warmth of my fellow Leadership MAX members really meant a lot to me. It was exciting to be around people that were there to learn and get better. We come from a culture in workforce development where I think we feel in the shadows at times, so to have a cohort dedicated to us and the work we do is a great reward for the time and energy we put in to make the impacts that we do on the workforce community. What was also profound for me is the way the program connected workforce development to everything else under the sun and sat us in front of people who are experts and trailblazers in those areas. If anyone got nothing from the content itself they should have at least been motivated by their peers and the people that poured into us. The guests were so down to earth, and that’s what we needed to see, not speakers who we didn’t feel connected to, but people who we could actually see ourselves partnering with, connecting with, or aspiring to be like.

Program Director, STRIVE Atlanta
Toya Williams
This experience was truly transformative, where knowledge was gained, skills were sharpened, and leadership practice is now in full play. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned, lead with greater intention, and continue growing as a leader.
